Action Steps

In this session, we learned that discipleship is about being like Jesus. Many people wonder what God might do in certain scenarios, and if we truly understand the identity of Jesus, we wouldn't look any further to answer that question. Jesus was God in human form. Everything he did was in response to who God is. There is the completely revealing moment in John 5 when it says, "Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." Therefore, when we see Jesus and his life, we see God and what he wants for our life. As followers of Jesus, we should put all our attention toward having our life look more and more like the stories we read in the Gospel.

If you want to begin to take steps forward in this topic, here are two things you could do to respond.

  1. Identify one area of your life you think aligns with Jesus' life. Commit to doing that more this week. Also, identify one area of your life you think doesn't align with Jesus' life. Commit to not doing that this week.
  2. Find one person you'll intentionally share your discoveries from this class with. Research shows that the best way to learn is to share what you're learning. So, think of one person you can relay these ideas and topics to and ask them if they'd be ok hearing about your time working through this course.
